8 Things You Didn’t Know The Name For

4. Lemniscate

Try to tell me you didn’t think this was just called “the infinity symbol.” Technically, a lemniscate is a plane curve consisting of two loops that intersect at one point.

3. Philtrum

The philtrum is that grooved area above your upper lip and below your nose. This is another one increasing in popularity thanks to piercing, though still not too common. We’re not the only ones who have it either, the philtrum is common to many mammals. Go check your dog real quick, he’s got one!

2. Punt (Also known as a Kick-Up)

That little dimple at the bottom of your wine bottle actually has a name. Referred to as a “Punt” or a “Kick-Up,” there isn’t one definitive answer as to why the punt exists. Some say it is just a natural part of the production, some say it makes the bottle more resistant to higher pressure, and there are many other theories. Whatever the reason, now you at least know what to call it!

1. Gynecomastia

Basically, man-boobs. Gynecomastia is essentially an imbalance in hormones in boys or men, affecting one or both breasts. It’s possible as well that both breasts are affected, though unevenly. It’s not known to be a serious problem, but it’s difficult for those suffering with it. Not only is there an infrequent pain in the breasts, a lot of sufferers also battle their personal feelings of embarrassment. Of course surgery can help with this condition, but there’s also medication that can be taken, or in some cases it goes away on its own. So if you see a set of man-boobs, just stay cool, it’s an actual thing.
